Colour

Nordic Navy is the brand colour.

Eight colours, no more. Navy carries the brand. Paper and Oxblood support it. Noble Gold appears only on what you pay for.

The Oxblood rule

One accent per page. It marks the fall.

Oxblood is used once on a page: one rule, one key number, or one verdict stamp for a company that fell. Never as a background, a button or a logo colour.

Which mark where

One mark in view at a time.

  • The mastheadThe default. Website header, reports, documents, slides, email. When in doubt, use the masthead.
  • The sealThe close of a long piece: study and column footers, video end cards, certificates. Never a watermark. Never under 120 px.
  • The North Star tileThe Paper star on a Nordic Navy square, where we do not control the ground or the mark is tiny: avatars, app icons, browser tabs, video watermarks.
  • The bare starOn our own pages, documents, slides and print, on Paper or Navy. In gold only on dark, and only on paid things.

Clear space around any mark: at least 5% of its width.

Type

Two typefaces, both free.

Newsreader
